As reported in the Honeoye Falls Sentinel and The Livingston County News ...

Eagle Scout candidate, Zachary Roberts from Lima Troop 29 along with Boy Scouts and community members gathered on Saturday, February 25th to build cat shelters. Zachary’s Eagle Scout project will benefit Habitat for Cats. Zach’s interest for animals led him to Habitat for Cats, an organization that helps feral (wild) cats in our communities.

Currently, there are over 10,000 feral cats in Monroe County alone. Habitat for Cats focus is to reduce the cat overpopulation by implementing a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program, and to educate the public on the benefits of this non-lethal method of population control. Zach’s project is to build cat shelters that will house these cats when returned to the wild. With contributions from B & L Wholesale Supply Inc., Weiders Pro Hardware and The Home Depot, Zach plans to build 15 of these shelters.
